Hurricane Helene has left a deadly trail across the Southeastern United States, claiming over 95 lives and wreaking havoc with extensive flooding. One of the storm’s unexpected dangers has been electric vehicle (EV) fires, with at least one Tesla bursting into flames after being submerged in saltwater.

Owners are urged to bring their vehicles to a dealership for inspection before driving them, as saltwater can lead to dangerous electrical fires.

As recovery efforts continue, President Biden has vowed federal support to states impacted by Hurricane Helene’s destruction.
