ByteDance to Shut Down TikTok Music Globally by November 2024

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has announced the global shutdown of its music streaming platform, TikTok Music, by November 28, 2024. This decision will affect users in countries like Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and Mexico. The company is urging subscribers to transfer their playlists to other streaming services by October 28, and automatic renewals will be canceled after November 28.

ByteDance plans to continue focusing on its music distribution platform, SoundOn, while supporting music streams via TikTok’s integration with Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.

TikTok has played a pivotal role in music discovery and streaming value for artists, though recent disputes with the music industry, including a licensing disagreement with Universal Music Group, have likely influenced ByteDance’s strategic shift.
