Okyeame Kwame Reflects on Choosing Peace Over a Diss Track Response to Obrafour’s
Kwame Nsiah-Apau, known by his stage name Okyeame Kwame and affectionately called the “Rap Doctor,” In a recent interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Okyeame Kwame opened up about his initial anger over Obrafour’s controversial track, Kasiebo. Feeling provoked, he considered releasing a diss track in response, even filling an entire notebook with lyrics.
Okyeame Kwame was so intent on replying that he contemplated using the same beat from Kasiebo for his track. However, his wife, along with mentors like Professor Asante and Dr. Marfo, encouraged him to take a step back. His wife pointed out that he hadn’t yet created songs reflecting on significant figures like Kwame Nkrumah or Christ, and questioned whether investing energy in a diss track was truly worthwhile or intelligent.
Now, Okyeame Kwame reflects with gratitude on that decision, sharing, “I’m grateful I didn’t insult Obrafour; not only would I have lost respect, but I would have also lost a friend.”
