Byno Ayoni Reveals Losing Major Deals Due to Albinism but Pushes for Inclusivity in Showbiz
Despite his impressive win on Mentor Season 12, musician Byno Ayoni has faced significant challenges in his music career due to his albinism. Signed to Edem’s VRMG (Volta Regime Music Group), Byno opened up in an interview with Graphic Showbiz about how discrimination based on his appearance has affected his ability to secure prominent deals.
In the interview, Byno explained that he lost major opportunities because industry insiders considered his looks too “distracting” for the market. Instead of being discouraged, however, Byno embraced his condition, changing his stage name from Emperor to Byno Ayoni—a nod to his identity as an albino.
Byno believes his albinism is a “special ability” rather than a disability, and uses his platform to advocate for inclusivity in the entertainment industry. He hopes to inspire others with similar conditions to pursue their dreams without self-doubt.
Byno’s recent ‘Activado’ EP, featuring songs like “Champion,” “Lebron,” “Henny,” and “Stand Firm” with his label boss Edem, showcases his unique talent and determination to break barriers.
