Actress Ufuoma McDermott Opens Up About Her 12-Year Battle with Kidney Disease

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Ufuoma McDermott recently revealed her ongoing 12-year battle with kidney disease, a journey that took a severe turn with a Stage 4 diagnosis last year. Speaking openly about her experience, Ufuoma shared that her condition progressed from Stage 3 to Stage 4, primarily due to treatment delays, which marked a challenging turning point in her life and career.

Ufuoma attributes her illness to excessive painkiller use, leading to complications that significantly affected her health. Her condition rendered her immobile for six months, caused significant weight loss, and left her uncertain about her future. Despite these challenges, she continued to pursue her acting and production career, finding strength to manage the physical and emotional demands of her illness.

In a recent interview, Ufuoma also disclosed her decision to live abroad with her family, allowing her to prioritize her health while still working in Nigeria. This new balance has given her space to focus on both her health and her family, blending her public and private life in a way that supports her recovery and well-being.
